Rick9Forum Bug Report / Suggestions
#61
Assuming the garden returns , lurkers will inevitably migrate back there .

But i do thing YOUR house Roy could serve a much needed resource for content providers .

We need a place for modding community discussions , technical questions for a variety of subjects such as skinning , modeling, enb/hook configuration and mod setups .

We need a place to request not just ehh.... "material" but assistance and advice for our own modeling projects and discuses wip's .

One thing i can say personally is that need an up to date reference archive of the "program"'s moddable textures , there where times i spent hours hunting down a texture when it should have taken minutes.

Other things like a place to discuss and share tips and experience with media production , Pictures & movies .

I thing there is the potential of doing some great community projects here if we choose to pool our respective skills together.
Possibly create a directory of participating contributors abilities ,specialty and projects the would like to do.

Am probably forgetting a lot and i know my thought patterns are disorganized as heck, that and i should have posted days ago , i felt like a kid with a new toy when i got my mits on all thoes new tools.

I'm just posting this here so incase anyone else asks.

I got sent the files for the hair textures that don't work, and I can indeed confirm that for some reason they are broken.

My original thoughts that it could be incorrectly named or to many mods causing the problem are not the reason they fail to work.

So somebody more knowledgeable may want to take a look.

I had similar issues , an up to date texture reference would help figuring out how to rename your textures.
meanwhile try checking texture that you know work ,
example , original broken texture was named hair29_style01_custom , i downloaded and tested a texture name Hair_29_Style02 , from that it was simple deduction figure out what to rename the broken one to.

btw we need to split this topic between forum issues and game issues.

I believe it is better not to have 'official' releases from The Team available here, cause the game binaries and basic txx files are indeed stuff that they have rights about, and this will certainly bring us trouble one day or another!
There is no need to host or link that stuff here, we just need some indirect hints about URLs of free filehosts / torrents, and anyone would be able to download new versions from The Team idea
Just my 2 cents ;)

I totally agree. It was a pain in the ass trying to get content from "that other site". It was possible for a while to retrieve files replacing some text on the url, later you needed an account with the pack enabled. So I started creating mods for my self which I hope to share soon when I have more time.

I'll upload content at a steady rate from now on.

To be honest, I like the fact now that we have ACTIVE ADMINS who could cull inactives and bots. Although we used to claim to have over 10k of members, I bet 99.5% of them were not contributing.

Yes, better quality than quantity. I have also been a lurker on all forums related to TK since I discovered 2.52. In 2 - 3 years my only contribution was a. reg script to be able to move the installation and install "the other site"'s content (before TK was portable). :P

So without them you feel this forum is a "temporary" shelter from the storm? Let me ask you this. The next 4 or 5 years we haven't heared a word from them. This forum has been here them 4 or 5 years from now. Would you still be thinking that?
If this is the way it is then maybe it's best I shut this forum down and we wait for a permanent forum!

Whoa whoa whoa whoa, let's rewind for a moment here.

First, let me just say that we all appreciate your efforts in setting up this bbs and your effort in sending out the invites to old contributors. Although not all of us are here, it's nice to find a place where we can see some old faces.

As per my previous comment about "temporary."

I'll share where I get this sentiment.

I am under the impression from the Post by Morotaika on ULMF where he said that razyuli was down because of a domain issue. I managed to return to our old home just enough to back up my old files and .rar them in case something catastrophic happens to our old archives. Clearly, by now, our old home is GONE and the unthinkable did happen. A lot of hardwork and brilliant content are gone now.

So far, I have yet heard anything from Morotaika (since his last communication) and from K17. To put it bluntly, they have not yet endorsed any relocation or verified that something is our new permanent home. I am sorry if you take this as an insult, it is not meant to be. I think as an old contributor, you know how it feels to share something with the community only to find it GONE within 2 weeks. Posting takes time and many of us have busy lives outside of our creative work.

Even though many of us are very Talented, it's K17 that releases new patches, these patches fix bugs and other technical issues. They are crucial.

I will support you if you make this our permanent location, I just hope that you extend the memo to Morotaika.

It's nice to have a place where we can now screen incoming new users and could cull inactive 0 posts.

Just my 2 cents.

I think that we definetely needed a forum, at least I prefer a forum even if it's only user based than being on uncertainty forever. People may focus on content, mods, poses, comics or artwork, so I believe many will still be playing even without patches. From my part I can only do textures and sometimes poses, so I focus primarily on outfits, but it is cool when a new item is added. It would be great if not only the TK team knew how to mod so any community (us) contribution to our knowledge is excellent. I'm interested into trying UV maps too but there isn't enough documentation.

Roy I don't know who the heck you are but once again, thanks!! :ymapplause:

I noticed that the forum doesn't automatically log me in; I have to log in manually every time I disconnected from and reconnected to the internet (since my ip address changes every time I connected to the internet).

That's weird.

I don't even have to disconnect. Just leave the forum for an hour or so and when i return, i have to login again.
I'm not quite sure, but wasn't there a button to "stay logged in"!?
But now i can't find it anymore.
Or maybe there was not such button and i'm just going insane!!! 8-}

But after all, it would be nice to have something like this! Could this be possible?

phpbb has the option to disable permanent logins to increase security. Also, session validation can be based on IP address (full IP or part of it, so if you stay in the same subnet your session may continue).

It is good practice to use a local (non-cloud!) password container like keepass with a strong key phrase that holds various passwords for your online sites, especially when visiting forums that may be in the legal gray zone.
