PTRGetting rid of memory chrashes with CFF Explorer
#1
This is how I got memory crashes fixed with CCF Explorer

1. install ExplorerSuite.exe (You can download it here:

)
2. Make a backup copy of your "3D*****-114.001.exe" and put it somewhere save just in case.
3. In Binaries folder, right-click on the 3D*****-114.001.exe and go to "open with CCF Explorer"
4. on the left-hand side of the window that pops up, go to "File Header"
5. in file header, in the bottom right of the grid there is a box called "characteristics." click on it.
6. in the dialog window that pops up, check "App can handle >2gb access space"
7. press OK and quit CCF explorer. when it asks you to overwrite the existing file, click OK.

Ps. I know there's a 4Gb batch too. I haven't tried it, but this worked for me so I wanted to share it with you.

It sure helped for me. I'm using this for months now on a 4X mod version and had no crashes at all.

Do not forget to repeat the trick after you install a new version exe of tk.

But even better would be if the modder who supplies the new exe would apply cff himself so that nobody has to take care of it anymore. I requested this already at the previous place.

I'm using it with 4x mod too, works fine.
I thought about putting it automatically in the updates too. I didn't know anyone had suggested it before, but I think it would be a great idea!

Here's the 4GB Patch in case the above method does not work.

This patch solved my ERROR OUT OF MEMORY messages when I load game in DirectX and running Hook2.

Instruction included inside.

Extract into Binaries folder, run 4gb patch, select game.exe, patch, okay.

Does this speed up loading times at all?

No, it only prevents the game from running out of memory after which the game crashes. Most of the times this occurs for people who run the 4X mod which typically requires more data to be loaded in memory due to higher texture resolutions.
cff allows the game to run with more than the standard 2Gb of RAM (that is, if you have more RAM available in your pc)

To load the game faster minimizing the amount of textures, poses, models and mods may also help.

A SSD (solid state disk) helps speeding up loading times a lot :D

Ofcourse it helps, but it costs too much X(

I found that I got a lot of memory crashes because I had too many toy mods installed in the archives. After I removed a bunch on rarely used mods, my memory issues seemed to have disappeared.

I couldn't find the 4GB patch anymore, but this fix works great, too.
