I stumbled across
If you have Windows 10 or 11, there is a Service called "VBS" intended to minimize the damage caused by a bad/malicious driver. Problem is this Service can slow down your apps by as much as 15%.
Assuming your computer is already running smoothly and you don't install any questionable drivers, you can safely disable the Service.
A quick before/after test on my PC, my frame rate in TK17 in the one room I tested (The stock "Hangar" [Robot] room) jumped from 72fps to 85fps (an 18% increase) just by disabling VBS. That's better than most "overclock" hacks (and you can still overclock on top of that.)
